summer snapshot - week 4

my best friend from college and her two kids visited this week, she is also lc's godmother.
her daughter, elizabeth and john are the same age- they had a great time together.
and her son william and darrel are a couple years apart, they got along great too.
john and elizabeth would wake up in the mornings and read together.
he also taught her how to play poker, since he had been playing it with his siblings.
once he gets into a game/sport he wants to play it non-stop :)
last leander bball camp was that week so elizabeth took ella's spot, she was out of town.
she was a little unsure about going since she has never played before.
but she went for it and she and john had a great time.
it was a fun half of a week with them.
we have been so lucky to see them every year or two - hopefully that will continue.
ella came home at the end of the week.
she went to kentucky with her grandma to help with her new baby cousin, xavier.
it was a very special trip for her to take with her grandmother, and she is such a help.
gone for 10 days, and since she has never been away before she got a little homesick.
so we made her a sign, baked her some cookies, and bought her some gifts (clothes!).

it was so great to have her back home, we sure missed that wonderful girl of ours!
the next day was the 4th of july - ella, chris and john went to the early parade.
i stayed home with sleeping d, and injured lc - drew went with his friend.
d is into taking selfies since ella taught him about them.
sometimes he will ask to take one, which he did on the 4th...
more poker was played.
and some pretty cool painting was done.
