when christopher was in kindergarten a long ago tradition was resurrected at the school.
the alumni parents of the kids in his class wanted to bring back something they remembered and loved from their kindergarten year, the first year at the school.
the jets vs. bombers game...
so, it began again that year -
the two kindergarten classes played each other in a big t-ball game.
one kindergarten class was the jets (red), and one was the bombers (blue).
shirts were ordered, the date was set, and the entire school came to cheer them on.
and the tradition has continued every year since.
the big game was yesterday and john wanted to go to cheer on his kindergarten buddies.
these pictures are all from the year ella played when she was in kindergarten 2 years ago.it is so neat to see the entire school get into this game and cheer on the little ones.
and they, of course, couldn't be more excited for it themselves.
the older kids make signs for them, and do the announcing and commentating.
and fresh popped popcorn, pickles, candy and water are sold.
the school gets free dress and all the kids wear whatever shirt coordinates with the class they were in.
this year they added a canned food drive in order to receive the free dress privilege.
all of our kids have been bombers so far -
but this year christopher had to dress in red since his class is paired up with the jets for their buddies.he was so excited to cheer on his little kindergarten buddy.
these traditions are so wonderful for the kids to have and build so much community.
i can't believe john will be playing in this game in just two years!
