summer snapshot - week 8

we were at my dear friend lori's cabin.
just the mom's & kids for a week...hang'n out together enjoying some cooler temps.
we have been doing this for the last 6 years, since the girls were one and a half.
we had to miss one year (when the girls were going to kindergarten) due to scheduling conflicts.
we always take a picture of all the kids on the front steps before we leave.
here they are - all 10 of them.  we had one sweet friend added to the group this year.
there was an awesome rainstorm the first day we were there.
the temperature dropped to 64, and it rained all afternoon and even hailed a bit.

the kids took turns putting on plays for us.
they worked on them for quite awhile and they were pretty funny and entertaining.
we hiked to 'frog pond' the next day.
we go on this nice little hike every summer.
there was a nice stream of water, since there had been so much rain the day before.
all the kids get along so well together.  and they get to be outside all day long.
there were lots of rides on the zip line.
and lots of time spent hang'n out together around the cabin.
and games played on the front porch.
we went to the park and to the pool.
the days were glorious and the kids had such a great time (as did the moms!).
we went out for pizza on our last night, a tradition we started last year.
the owner remembered us from last year.
he was very sweet and really complimented us on all the kids & their behavior.
which was somewhat ironic since the boys had gotten rather silly making up some concoction of water, ketchup, salt, sugar, etc... that they were trying to get the girls to drink.
they had a blast, laughing like crazy.
it has been such a fun tradition to go with the kids and our wonderful friends every summer.
to watch all of these kids get along so well and see their friendships develop.
they will always remember the summers we spent together.
and we are so thankful to lori and her kids for their hospitality.
